07/08/2003 - CurtCo Media Launches Robb
Report Motorcycling
Covering the Essence of the Motorcycling
Lifestyle - New Publication Targeted to Affluent
Enthusiasts
MALIBU, CA (July 8, 2003) – Robb Report
magazine publisher CurtCo Media today announced
the establishment of Robb Report MotorCycling,
a luxury lifestyle publication targeted to the
affluent two-wheeled enthusiast.
Embracing the creativity and passion that drives
the motorcycle lifestyle, the new publication
will offer stunning photography and compelling
editorial developed specifically for the most
discriminating reader. A staff of seasoned editors
and photographers, themselves all lifelong riders,
will offer an array of feature articles; from
reviews of the newest high-quality bikes to interviews
with noted motorcycle riders to weekend adventures
celebrating the most fabulous roads in the world.
“This new title will address a growing
audience of established, affluent executives that
are truly passionate about motorcycling,”
said William J. Curtis, Chief Executive Officer
of CurtCo Media. “"It provides us with
the unique opportunity to combine our passion
for motorcycles with the well-defined affluent
market that Robb Report has addressed for more
than a quarter-century.”
Plans call for the premiere Spring 2004 issue
to reach newsstands on February 10, followed by
a summer issue scheduled for May 27, 2004. The
new magazine will have an initial distribution
of 100,000 copies, comprising certain current
Robb Report subscribers and a hand-picked selection
of dealers, with the balance to be disseminated
through newsstands nationwide.
Robb Report Motorcycling will operate under the
direction of CurtCo Senior Vice President Arthur
Coldwells, who assumes the title of Publisher.
A 30-year motorcycle enthusiast, Mr. Coldwells
has competed at national and club levels of the
American Motorcycle Association, and guided motorcycling
sections in Robb Report.
Christopher Nugent, who brings more than 30 years
of motorcycle industry experience to CurtCo, has
been named as Editor of the new publication. Mr.
Nugent has worked in publication editorial as
well as all aspects of motorcycling, including
marketing, design, and production. In addition,
he is a founding editor of Tamaqua magazine, a
quarterly literary magazine.
Jeff Buchanan, also a 30-year veteran of the
motorcycling industry, has been named as National
Advertising Director. Mr. Buchanan, who served
a similar function in Robb Report’s special
motorcycling section in May, has also been a contributor
to motorcycleUSA.com.
The establishment of Robb Report MotorCycling
represents the most recent move in CurtCo’s
ongoing objective of acquiring and developing
vertical titles within the luxury lifestyle and
industry categories addressed by Robb Report,
a goal that began with CurtCo’s acquisition
of Robb Report two years ago. This launch is the
latest chapter in the expansion of the Robb Report
franchise that includes the acquisition of the
assets of Worth magazine in June, 2003, the development
of The Robb Report Collection in November, 2001
and the launch of Robb Report Home Entertainment
& Design in October, 2002.
