Reeya Banerjee is a Hudson Valley-based writer, musician, (bass guitar and vocals), and voiceover artist. She is a contributing writer and podcaster at Story Screen (www.storyscreenbeacon.com), a regional arts publication affiliated with the Story Screen independent movie theater in Beacon NY; she also has work forthcoming in the Peauxdunque Review. Reeya has two albums planned for release in 2021: the first features original songs co-written and produced by Luke Folger (https://soundcloud.com/unigen/), the second is an album of reinvented covers recorded and produced during COVID-19 lockdown in New York with her long-time musical collaborator James Rubino (www.jamesplays.com), conceived as a document of creativity during a time of enforced stasis. In her other life, she is an accounts payable specialist, loves watching Law & Order: SVU reruns while eating gummy bears, and has a film degree from Vassar College that she does not use.

A Statement from Reeya:

"I originally told a version of this piece at a local storytelling slam organized by a friend - by which I mean I totally winged it, off the cuff. It was received well, so I decided to polish it up and expand it and then see what else I could do with it...Life is short; there is no time to leave important words unsaid."
