"The Mountain Man series was the result of reflections on the nature of great art, and how it can offer us insights into the nature of the human condition. The Song Dynasty landscapes not only capture the natural beauty of the material world, but also serve as beautiful metaphors for the inner spiritual world of human beings as well. These poems were written as an attempt to capture that same kind of quality in verse."
