Frank Mandarano, founder of the Maserati Club International, joins Cars That Matter for part one of a two-part conversation to discuss his love for the car marque, how MIE Corp was created, and the future designs and collectability of the make

After introductions, Frank explains the story of how he first connected with Maserati (2:03), before the two men discuss what makes the Maserati designs so special (7:08), and Maserati's emphasis on race car design (10:46). Then Robert asks Frank to talk about his experiences in restoring and driving Maseratis (14:21).

After a short break, Frank details the origins of the Maserati Information Exchange (18:06) and how MIE changed the history of the marque (21:07) before a gradual transition into becoming a resotration company before the recession in the 90s (24:42). Then Robert pivots to discuss the Maserati's rise on the collectible market (31:05), the uniqueness of prototypes in the car industry--especially the ones designed by Franco Saglione (33:08)--and Frank muses on the future of the marque and the car design industry as a whole (35:09).
